Full Record - Norton St Philip, Farleigh Hungerford Castle

LocationNorton St Philip, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Somerset
Grid referenceST 801 577
DescriptionThis chapel to an old parish church now within Farleigh Hungerford Castle has beams known to have been painted in the 1640s. The date obtained suggests that the beams were put in place in the same phase of construction as the roof of St Leonard's Chapel which adjoins it (1600-22, see List 124). The window lintel relates to a later repair phase. M. Bridge, 'Tree-ring analysis of timbers from St Anne's Chapel, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Norton St Philip, Somerset', CfA report 68/2002.
