Klasies River Mouth, Non-UK (South Africa), 23/7/1966
An initial visit to the caves near the Klasies River Mouth on the Tizitzikama Coast. There are three cave complexes, numbered by me as 1-2, 3-4 and 5, running from West to East.
1-2 are an upper and lower cave superimposed, 3-4 connected by a narrow tunnel. 5 not actually seen until 1967 when shown by Mr Gess of Port Elizabeth. 3 is large and high, and the home of many bats, hence it is often called 'Bat Cave'., (sketch plan of site locations)
