After alot of hard-work by the team, we have finished the following major tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new database is in place (PostGreSQL + PostGIS)<\/li>\n<li>A Java application is in place (the basis of the form) that can &#8216;talk&#8217; to the database<\/li>\n<li>Workflows mapped (what happens when(<\/li>\n<li>Mapping old OASIS terms to existing heritage thesauri<\/li>\n<li>Full-scale test migration of data completed<\/li>\n<li>Testing and feedback on migration\/mapping<\/li>\n<li>The basic form is in place (at last!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The local version has been deployed to a &#8216;live&#8217; server, and a group of users who have signed up are now being notified that they can log on and have a look\/test what is there.<\/p>\n<p>The testing phase is now running until the end of May, during which time we will be collecting and compiling comments\/bugs, as well as moving on with the rest of the build.<\/p>\n<p>The slides below give a very basic example of how the new form is shaping up and the sort of information recorded within.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/archaeologydataservice.ac.uk\/blog\/oasis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/alpha_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-670\" src=\"http:\/\/archaeologydataservice.ac.uk\/blog\/oasis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/alpha_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1863\" height=\"730\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/archaeologydataservice.ac.uk\/blog\/oasis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/alpha_2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-671\" src=\"http:\/\/archaeologydataservice.ac.uk\/blog\/oasis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/alpha_2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1845\" height=\"758\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a nutshell, what we have completed is&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A user can log on (change password etc)<\/li>\n<li>Do all the admin type tasks detailed in this <a href=\"https:\/\/archaeologydataservice.ac.uk\/blog\/oasis\/?p=561\">post of October 2018<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Look at a list of their records &#8211; filter by various fields<\/li>\n<li>View\/edit\/create a new record<\/li>\n<li>Fill in details about the project (using FISH event thesaurus) and the new wordlists now hosted as LOD at heritage data, for example &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/purl.org\/heritagedata\/schemes\/61336484-8c4b-4bad-ac09-0c237b3f281b\">development type<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li>Record the location, and have this generate the geographic administrative areas (county\/council, district, parish etc) and then generate the list of reviewers for that record (e.g. HER)<\/li>\n<li>Record monument and object (and period), again using relevant FISH thesauri<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What we&#8217;ll be working on next is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The report \/ other publication section (with ability to upload a file)<\/li>\n<li>The archives section<\/li>\n<li>Moving forward with the map (currently only in a local version)<\/li>\n<li>Set up the triggers that give the user an option to fill in a specialist module (currently Buildings, Geophysics and Burial Spaces Survey)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If anyone is interested in testing over the Summer, particularly for Archives and Buildings, then please get in touch with herald@ads.ac.uk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March saw the completion of the first major phase of the redevelopment of OASIS.
