It consisted of a nave and two transepts with a chancel and a north aisle along with the tower. The tower, originally in the centre, was rebuilt, probably in the 16th century, at the west end of the nave and remodelled in the first half of the 19th century. The exact date of construction of the old church is difficult to estimate but Sanders, curate of Shenstone in the mid 18th century estimated it to have been built/rebuilt in the reign of Henry VI, although many alterations and additions had been made since that time. The north transept, bore the date 1647, when it was partly rebuilt. The south transept was of brick, and was built to accommodate the people of Stonnall when their old chapel was pulled down. Excavations have confirmed the evidence of a Norman arch at the west base of the old tower and, moreover, also suggested an even earlier, Saxon foundation date. The only remains of the old building are the tower and the south door, though the foundations of the old church were partly revealed when the churchyard was cleared.","Staffordshire, Lichfield, Shenstone NGR SK 1096 0438","Church Extant building Arch Architectural component Architectural fragment Demolished building ",Early Medieval,Post Medieval,,,http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archsearch/record.jsf?titleId=1038707,SHER PRN 04294 ST CHAD'S SCHOOL,Pre-Conquest axes (4) and billhook found on site of what is now St Chad's School in 1816.,"Staffordshire, Lichfield NGR SK 1156 0985","Findspot Axe ",Early Medieval,Early Medieval,,,http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archsearch/record.jsf?titleId=1038675, MINSTER POOL & STOWE POOL,Pre-Conquest spiral-headed brass pin.
