Cast in mould. All of very similar design wih an oval loop and a 'finger traction' cordon on the inner side of loop next to cup wall, cordon or bulge defined by 4 grooves. The handles have a solid triangular profile spandrel or bracket below (like an ear-lobe) with a supporting bud-like bracket or strut with a concave underside (finger-rest) ending in a rounded knob. A few brackets have a moulded groove along the length simulating foliage. Some have a simpler bracket. It is clear at least 2 moulds were used. General Art Deco design (like Ovaltine mug handles) The rims are attached to a few examples. Only the last 'N' of station is missing otherwise this is the most complete eg of plainer-style. The words 'PROPERTY' and 'PADDINGTON STATION' are gently arched above and below the middle words which are horizontal. 'GWR' is underlined and in large-sized letters, the other words in smaller-sized letters. Whole inscribed area is 32mm high x c43mm wide & positioned 3-4mm below the rim at ?front of cup. Trace of impressed mark underside possibly '[MINTO]NS/[--]33' (the ending 33 looks fairly definite). On int curved flange is black transfer coat of arms of GWR with motto on ribbon 'GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY HOT[ELS]' & bisected shield above with London coat of arms to left and Bristol coat of arms (ships & fortress) to right. Only lower two-thirds survive on this vessel - the one below shows both halves of shield surmounted by heraldic 'finials' (Bristol =entwined arms holding a serpent & balances; London = outstretched dragon wing?) Base diam c130mm. Slight footring recess. underside has 2 marks. Black transfer small 'MINTONS/ENGLAND' mark with a crowned orb, total 16mm high. To right of this at different angle an impressed mark 'MINTONS/5 - 36'. Possibly a batch-mark for 1936?"
