All of the collections described here were visited and described or re described for the purposes of this study. Much of the descriptive information was used to formulate an extensive series of site-based accounts of previously excavated remains and which are reproduced here in the accompanying spreadsheets. Archives and images relevant to the main study were copied and stored within the Creswell Centre collections. It should be noted that much of the study was concerned with the Quaternary sites associated with Creswell Crags and that many located archives and collections which appeared to be of later prehistoric age were noted but not extensively studied and that many of these records, particularly of excavation records offer great potential for further study. All of the remains from the Creswell Heritage Area caves that were located during the 1976-90 projects are itemized in an Inventory titled Creswell Archaeological and Palaeontological Inventory.",AUTHOR,Rogan,Jenkinson,,8,,,,,,,,English,Microsoft Word, ,,,COPYRIGHT,Rogan,Jenkinson,,,,,,,,,,,, Taxonomy_of_species-Jenkinson_2016.doc,Glossary and Taxonomy of Vertebrate Genera and Species Utilized for Vertebrate Species Identified form Creswell Area Localities the Creswell Crags Caves and Rock shelters,"The glossary listed below lists the generic and species names used in this study. Taxonomic classification for modern species follows that set out by Walker (1975) and for sub fossil and fossil species that set out by Stuart (1982]. In all cases allocation to genera or species is based upon the morphological characteristics of individual specimens. Following the extensive project to locate and describe vertebrates known from Creswell, the total number of species was increased significantly. The glossary is a statement of the results at the end of the project in 1992. There remain large quantities of vertebrate bone, particularly that of micro faunal vertebrates, which have not been described. Additionally, several excavated collections from more recent research are not included.",AUTHOR,Rogan,Jenkinson,,5,2016,,,,,,,English,Microsoft Word, ,,,COPYRIGHT,Rogan,Jenkinson,,,,,,,,,,,, 7_Contributors.docx,Glossary of Contributors to the 1976-1990 Project,Glossary of Contributors to the 1976-1990 Project,AUTHOR,Rogan,Jenkinson,,4,,,,,,,,English,Microsoft Word, ,,,COPYRIGHT,Rogan,Jenkinson,,,,,,,,,,,, 15_Creswell_Taphonomy_paper.odt,Taphonomy of Recent Vertebrate Skeletal Remains associated with the Quaternary Fossil Localities within the Limestone Gorge at Creswell Crags U.K.,"The limestone gorge and its associated caves, rock shelters and solution cavities are well known for their extensive Quaternary deposits which have produced large quanties of fossil vertebrate bones and associated evidence in the form of lithic tools, of human occupation .Research undertaken during the 1977-92 period demonstrated extensive diversity in the nature of evidence from cave sites within the Creswell Crags area.(Jenkinson,1984,Jenkinson and Gilbertson,1984}.In addition to extensive accumulation of fossil vertebrate bone within caves ,there are examples of vertebrate bone accumulation in cave talus deposits and nearby fluvial accumulations. There has been no previous attempt to consider accumulation and survival of animal skeletal remains within this group of limestone gorges.
