There are a number of examples for the use of comparable stamps recorded by Myres, four of which are attributed to the Loveden Hill (Lincs.) potter X, (1977 fig. 154 nos. 1318, 1349, 1350 and 1351). Other examples come from Lackford, suffolk (1977, fig. 198 no. 871) and St Johns, Cambridgeshire (1977, fig. 240 no. 291). Most come from East Anglia, but there are two further examples from Lovedon Hill (Lincs.) and three from Newark (Notts.), recorded in the Archive of Anglo-Saxon Pottery Stamps under the E 1ciii category. There are two examples of multi-chevron stamps from sites nearer to Piercebridge, namely South Elkington (Lincs.) (Myres 1977, fig. 139 no. 4104), and Sancton (Yorks.) (Myres 1977, fig. 318 no. 3157), but both of these have rounded edges and fit the E 1cii category. (I am grateful to Teresa Briscoe for providing me with this information).
