Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Excavation was conducted prior to house building in the centre of Lilliesleaf. The excavations revealed the remains of two adjoining cottages and a smaller building, probably a stable. They contained numerous internal features including hearths, drains and paving. Traces of plaster floors were noted. The front (north) walls of the buildings had not survived, probably having been replaced by the current boundary wall of the plot. Cartographic and documentary research demonstrated that the cottages were pre-1789 in date. Includes specialist reports on | |||||||
