Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The authors present a separate and updated version of a contribution originally incorporated into various sections of a wider report (J Bayley and M Ponting, A research agenda for archaeometallurgy). They argue that the study of early metal use (c. 2500 BC--AD 1100) in Scotland is ripe with untapped potential. For non-ferrous metals, it is suggested that the issue of ore sources is a key one, circumstantial evidence indicating candidates for further investigation. Aspects of the production of both non-ferrous and ferrous metals are considered, with suggestions for areas where further work would be of great benefit. |
