Abstract:
Reassessment of chronology and sequence at this point of the eastern defences: the eastern boundary was the castle barbican and ditch, the western boundary the N-S wall extant until mid/late 14th century. The land was held by knight service, not borough tenure. Potential for further excavation is outlined.
