Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports results from 1993 excavations and survey, aimed at recording details of the site before coastal erosion eradicates it. Earlier site plans were broadly confirmed, with the central tower situated on the highest point of Carr Naze. Animal bone evidence indicated a diet high in pork and beef but surprisingly low in marine fauna considering the location, and artefacts were scarce. The pottery assemblage and a coin date the site to late-fourth or early-fifth century, although it may be a little earlier. | ||||||
