Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A new survey of cropmarks in the Upper Thames valley undertaken in 1979 has recorded significant amounts of new data, using post-1972 photographs and a set of vertical aerial photographs dating from 1961. A particular aim of the survey was to broaden the horizons of Iron Age settlement study in the region. As well as probable Iron Age sites, a new causewayed enclosure, many probable Roman sites and several moated sites were identified from the 1961 photographs alone. The Cotswolds have great potential for study, but many sites are directly threatened by agriculture or natural erosion. LD | ||||||||
