Abstract:
Discusses progress made over the previous three and a half years with regard to government policy on rescue archaeology, summarised as: greatly increased funds, a senior appointment to deal with rescue archaeology, the decision to set up rescue units, and a commitment to new legislation in the context of planning law. Although the declaration of policy is welcome, very little detail has been settled. Four main demands that the CBA and RESCUE have of new legislation are listed, and the problem of a lack of provision to meet the growing demand for trained staff is highlighted. The article's title reflects RESCUE's continued need for support from members to address the various existing and developing issues. LD
