Abstract:
Notebooks recently discovered contain the field diary with drawings and notes mostly kept by H St George Gray for Pitt Rivers, with a few pages by the General himself. They relate to a number of sites in Cranborne Chase, and the speed of work they reveal is particularly noteworthy. Two previously unpublished sections of Wor Barrow give additional, but still debatable, details of the mortuary enclosure.
