Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Woodland regeneration in abandoned clearings during mid 3rd millennium bc is now attested over so many diverse habitats in Britain and Ireland as to suggest not mere shifting settlement but an actual reduction of population. The rich resources open to the earliest Neo settlers may have encouraged population growth to the point where the land could no longer support it, leading to either famine or reduced human fertility. Does the shift in ritual expression (henges, Irish passage graves) of the mid-3rd millennium bc stem from the difficulty of adjusting population to resources? | |||||
