Abstract:
Symbolic finds on the site of the new Scottish parliament, a large Roman aisled building - possibly an Imperial malting complex - at Mildenhall (Suffolk), and new evidence for Viking influence on the development of English towns (Norwich). In brief notes EH excavation plans for a timber circle found on the Norfolk coast, re-display of the Dorchester Roman town house after a three-year conservation and excavation project, Roman ships from Pisa harbour, and the discovery at Emperor Nero's Golden House in Rome of the signatures of Casanova and the Marquis de Sade, apparently scratched close together.
