The author discusses the role of drawing in archaeological fieldwork, and describes a project which involved visual artists with a particular interest in drawing working alongside archaeologists on a series of excavations in the Stonehenge area in 2007, and providing their own interpretations of the experience. The article briefly describes the work of each of the artists -- Mark Anstee, Rebecca Davies, Leo Duff, Brian Fay, Julia Midgley, and Janet Hodgson. |
