Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on the discovery of a substantial iron coulter, a bar which would have formed part of a heavy plough, within a sealed context on the floor of an Anglo-Saxon sunken-floored building. The heavy plough, known in Roman Britain, was thought to have fallen out of use after AD 410 and to have not reappeared until the later tenth century. However, artefacts from the deposit above the recently discovered coulter dated from the first half of the seventh century AD. LD | |||||
