Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Jeremy Deller, winner of the Turner art prize, talks about how childhood holidays looking at churches and ruins sparked his early interest in history, particularly social history. The use of historical re-enactment societies was an important part of the process of recreating 'The Battle of Orgreave', an incident in the miners' strike of the 1980s, as an artwork. He discusses the rationale behind the project, as well as his exhibition in America of a car destroyed by a bomb in Iraq, and his idea for ceremonial gateways for the Olympic Park. LD | |||
