Reports on the discovery of two ear studs beside the head of a female skeleton within a double grave found during archaeological works at Norton Subcourse Quarry, near Norwich. The find brings the total of such artefacts known from the UK and Ireland to 43. These items typically appear in graves with other artefacts dateable to the Early Bronze Age. However, the Norfolk find is associated with a skeleton of unusually late (Middle Bronze Age) date, suggesting either that this pair were heirlooms or that ear studs were in use for at least five centuries.
