Abstract:		 Discusses the Neolithic landscape of the Walton Basin in Wales, located about 30 miles north-west of Hereford. This valley includes a range of monuments dating from prehistoric to medieval times, but one of its most remarkable elements is a cluster of seven Neolithic enclosures, including two cursus monuments, a causewayed enclosure, three palisaded enclosures and a super-sized pennanular ring ditch. Twenty years ago almost none of this Neolithic landscape was known to exist; aerial photography, geophysical survey and keyhole excavation have since allowed the gradual identification of the remains that survive only below ground. Some details of the individual sites are described, and possible reasons for the construction of the monuments in this area are discussed. LD
