Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on the discovery and significance of a hoard of over 5,000 Anglo-Saxon coins found in late 2014 during a metal-detecting rally near Lenborough in Buckinghamshire. The county finds liaison officer was in attendance at the rally, and the hoard, which had been buried wrapped in a single sheet of lead, was excavated in a controlled way on the same day. The large size of the hoard means it has the potential to offer important statistical data to inform understanding of coin use in 11th century England. LD | ||||
