Abstract:		 Short item outlining the findings from excavations at two sites in Wiltshire. At the edge of the Marden henge an earthwork about ninety metres across known as the Southern Circle has been fully excavated, revealing a flat rectangular depression measuring three metres by four metres, with a fire pit at its centre. This feature has been interpreted as the base of a sweat lodge for ceremonial steam baths. Across the river Avon in Wilsford parish, excavation at the site of a substantial circular ditch has revealed features of uncertain function that are comparable with the Y and Z Holes at Stonehenge. Within the ditch itself, an upper fill had the characteristics of an early Iron Age midden deposit. Beneath this was the grave of an adolescent, buried in the early Bronze Age with a necklace of amber beads. LD
