Abstract:
Considers the ways in which analyses of prehistoric landscapes and art might overcome some of their traditional restrictions if studied in combination. To this end developments in rock art are related to their physical and cultural landscapes and the operation of specialized monuments. A study of the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age in Northumberland and Mid Argyll is put forward as a test case, the results of which augur well for future analyses of this nature. IH
