Paper on the garden at Bodysgallen, near Llandudno in north Wales, which passed by descent in the Mostyn and Wynn families from the late Middle Ages to 1967. The garden layout created c. 1600 seems to be that which survives today. Its main features are the walled and galleried flower garden among the east terraces; the walls of limestone and early red brick enclosing the orchards; and the panorama terrace walk connecting with a natural mount reached up a zigzag path. The gardens of the Mostyn and Wynn families here and elsewhere in the Conwy Valley, the Arts & Crafts gardening of Lady Augusta Mostyn, and the restoration work carried out since 1980, are also discussed. | ||||
