Abstract:
Report on the excavation of a small inhumation burial site near Sleaford, identified by the author as Quarrington II. Fifteen graves were identified, as well as fourteen shallow or surface-level contexts containing unburnt, disarticulated human bones. The burials were characteristic of inhumations found in the Anglian regions of England from the later-fifth to later-sixth centuries. The report includes a catalogue of the graves and grave-goods, and discussion of the buried population, grave construction and layout. Grave-goods included jewellery and dress fastenings; weapons; personal items such as knives; and vessels, including one made from organic material with a copper-alloy rim-fitting. Includes
