Article on Northlands House, a high quality, late-nineteenth-century house built in 1882 for the owner of a Southampton shipbuilding firm and extended in 1896 and 1909. It was sold and converted into a nursing home in 1929, and two further major extensions were built in 1972--3 and 1986--8. The house was demolished in 2004.
