SU 205136. The site, revealed by fluxgate gradiometer survey in advance of reforestation, was dug to reveal three kilns in good condition, with floors and pilasters in situ and quantities of pottery. The kilns reinforce an earlier suggestion that Sumner's plans are unreliable. The absence of flue arches and central supports is noteworthy. Kilns 2 and 3 are perhaps of second half of 4th century, Kiln 1 possibly earlier. A type-series of the colour-coated and coarse wares produced is presented, with results of heavy mineral analysis of the wares. | |||||||||
