Reports on investigations centred on St Gregory's Minster in c. 1994 (prompted by the appearance of structural defects in the tower) and makes new observations of Anglo-Saxon elements of the church. The work included historical research and a topographical survey of the Hodge Beck valley in the vicinity of the church. Geophysical survey of the floodplain to the north of the church revealed. anomalies worthy of further research, and small-scale excavation was undertaken on the river bank, adjacent to the churchyard wall, and at the west side of the tower.
