Abstract:
A reredos in the Romanesque five-sided chapel was recorded prior to being turned into a seat. Twelfth-century fragments put into it would indicate that these are the first major alterations of the SE windows since that time. Beneath, a twelfth-century bench at the same relative height as four others situated on each side of the chapel indicates further that the chapel had benches on all five sides. Windows in the three southern bays showed evidence of limewashing and red line decoration in imitation of ashlar. There were some fourteenth-century alterations.
