Using historical and structural evidence, it is shown that an apparently unremarkable nineteenth century brick farmhouse in Wharram le Street, Yorkshire, incorporates an earlier and virtually complete stone-built house. The building, known as `Red House Farm', is cited as an example of why, even in rural areas, it is dangerous to judge buildings by their superficial appearance. | ||
