Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A study using published pottery reports, predominantly from the past fifteen to twenty years, along with advance statements from sites in the process of publication and quantitative analysis of two unpublished, but critical, museum collections. The geographical distribution, modes of dispersal and distribution network, means of distribution, and postulated institutional and market factors are discussed, with a view to increasing understanding of both the underlying mechanisms of distribution and the organisation of production. `Appendix I: frequency of selected wares at primary and related supplementary sites' (272--9) and `Appendix II: occurrence of selected wares at secondary and related supplementary site' (279--81) complete the report. | |||
