Abstract:
Notes from an unpublished 1930 excavation (Donald Atkinson) describe the remains of some thirty-five individuals, 4th century pottery, and coins (390-410) from a small ?4th century bath-house added to an existing building. However, the later pottery and coins were not associated with the human remains, which appear to have been redeposited in the ruined building. The 'Saxon massacre' must therefore be discounted. F B
