Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Since both sculptures are of Portland stone and are similar in scale and technique, they may be the work of the same man, probably of Mediterranean origin. The Sarapis is probably of late Antonine date; the Tutela, fragments of which came from the basilica, is probably also of late Antonine date at the earliest. If it had no predecessor its erection might have marked a change in the official status of Calleva. AT See also abstract 74/2746. | ||
