A study of a 6m depth of sediments in a wetland adjacent to Slapton Sewage Works, Slapton Ley, using a range of field evidence and laboratory data. It is suggested that a silty clay layer (radiocarbon dated to between 960 ± 140 BP and 730 ± 120 BP) represents a agricultural intensification in the medieval period, although the effect of climatic changes are also considered. | ||
