Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Excavations have revealed evidence of a farmstead dating from the second to the fourth century. The discovery of an infant or foetus burial in a stone container and two pieces of box flue tile may indicate high status occupation, but this is not supported by the pottery assemblages. A possible relationship with other sites nearby is considered; this may represent a compound, hamlet or even a small village. There is a specialist report on `The ceramics' by Rod Burchill (69--73). | ||||||||||
