Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on excavation of a site on the south side of Temple Church, which uncovered a small part of the remains of a building probably associated with the round church of the Knights Templar (excavated in 1960). Subsequent building is associated with the occupation of the site by the Knights Hospitaller. Both industrial and domestic activity were evinced and a post-medieval limekiln was also recorded. Appendices comprise a report on a group of medieval jugs by M W Ponsford (27), a `Catalogue of illustrated sherds' (27--34), `The floor tiles' by G L Good & P L Fettes (34--6), `The clay tobacco pipes' by R Jackson & P Jackson (37), and `Metalwork and other non-ceramic artefacts' by G L Good (37--40). | |||||||
