Abstract:
Energy dispersive XRF analyses are used to establish the chemical variability in glasses producing coherent groups and to form the basis for a more extensive study of Iron Age glass from British contexts. The opaque yellow glass found at Meare's postulated glass-working site could have been produced by the addition of lead and antimony to the colourless glass used as the matrix of the spirally decorated beads.
