Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Study of the iconographical tradition of portraying Venus with a fan as evinced in the pavements at Frampton and Hemsworth, placing the two examples firmly within a long classical sequence. The results of research into the depiction of this motif in Greco-Roman art are applied to British examples, and there is some indication of its persistence into later, post-Roman, art. |
