Abstract:
Discusses David Smith's classification for schools of mosaic design which he considered were based at Dorchester, Water Newton and Brough-on-Humber, naming them Durnovarian, Durobrivan and Petuarian respectively and two at Cirencester, the Corinian Orpheus and Corinian Saltire schools. Suggests two new groups in the form of a South-western group and a Southern Dobunnic group for Bath and surrounding areas.
