Abstract:		 A series of excavations and watching briefs is described. Pipe laying within the fort in 1985--87 disturbed walling probably of the internal bath house. Work west of the fort in 1986 established the line of the Antonine Wall, ditch, upcast mound and military way, while an area immediately west of the west gate of the fort was checked for the presence of extramural settlement. Postholes for timber buildings and drainage channels, possibly of a cultivation system were revealed there, as well as features of medieval and later date. Much of the Roman pottery recovered had been produced locally. P V Webster reports on `Samian and coarse wares' (93--5 and fiche) and L J F Keppie on `Small finds' (95 and fiche). `Analysis of ditch-fill' (95--7) is by Richard Tipping.
