Report presenting the results of an excavation of an upstanding circular masonry structure at Mayor Avenue, East Kilbride, previously recorded as a limekiln. The investigation was carried out prior to commercial development, in order to provide information for the consolidation and preservation of the structure in situ. Detailed examination of the structure eliminated it as a limekiln. The structure was instead revealed to be a garden summerhouse, the result of significant alterations to an earlier building that probably fulfilled an unidentified industrial function before being incorporated into the grounds of a private house in the late-eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
