Abstract:
SH 782774. Excavations west of the castle uncovered the stone foundations of a hall and annexed structures with two occupation phases beginning c 1283-7. The high quality of the finds, many imported, and some documentary evidence suggests the hall was the lodging of the Master of the King's Works. The second occupation phase probably ended with the Welsh revolt of 1401. DG
