Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Excavation in advance of pipelaying isolated four sites. Site A included a Mesolithic or Neolithic feature identified as a rubbish dump. Site B contained Saxon metalworking evidence, and Site C was characterised by a spread of finds including medieval pottery. Site D was also represented by a spread of finds seemingly unconnected with any discernible features. There is a section of specialist finds reports beginning with `Flintwork' by O Bedwin (136), `Saxon pottery from Site B' by S Tyler (136), `The ironworking evidence' by G McDonnell (136), `Iron object' by H Major, and `Animal bone' by O Bedwin (136). There is also a brief note on later observations which recorded four post medieval boundary ditches. | |||||||||||||||
