Up to 2m of stratified deposits lie on the Methodist Chapel site in Church Street, including at least three phases of 13th century building with dark earth/garden soil above. At George Street the W periphery of the town became built up only in 17th/18th century. Pottery included a good range of imports and the Methodist Chapel site produced one of the best stratified assemblages in Essex. Au (abr) | ||||||
