Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A small excavation carried out in 2009 at the Othona Community Site, Bradwell-on-Sea recorded enclosures and a small outbuilding dating to the late 3rd to late 4th centuries, contemporary with the Roman 'Saxon Shore' fort of Othona 120m to the south. The animal bone assemblage suggests the enclosures were used for the slaughter and butchery of cattle. Comparison with the 1992-3 excavation to the north shows that the sites was located on the edge of the ancient salt-marsh. | ||||||||
