Abstract:		 Summarises findings of a series of excavations undertaken since 1980 on the site of a crannog that now lies on the edge of the remnant of a drained lake. Evidence was found for occupation in the following periods: Mesolithic (c 4300--4000 BC); Neolithic (c 3000 BC); Early/Middle Bronze Age (c 1880--1680 BC); Late Bronze Age (c 890--790 BC); Early Medieval (c AD 600--800); and High Medieval (c AD 1200--1350).
