Abstract:
Reports on a project which has been investigating the viability of using coniferous timber for dendrochronological analysis in Britain. In addition, as the majority of medieval and post-medieval conifer timbers used for building are likely to be imported, successful dating has the added advantage of providing information about the source of the timber, and hence the trade in timber during these periods. Uses examples of two London buildings, House Mill, Bromley-by-Bow and Danson House, Bexley.
