Abstract:
Historical account of the village of Blennerville (now a suburb of Tralee) in the first half of the nineteenth century. Following an introduction describing the village, the author looks at the economic life of pre-Famine Blennerville; at the building and economic impact of the Blennerville to Tralee Ship Canal (started in 1829 but not completed until 1846); at the Famine and its impact on Blennerville; and concludes by looking at the changes to the village over this period.
