Abstract:
Documents the history of excavations at the Romano-British site, which was producing quantities of smelted iron between the late-first and mid-second century AD. It appears unlikely that there were any major stone structures in the immediate area, despite the presence of Classis Britannica stamped tiles. Activity appears to have ceased in the later-second century AD. Also proposes an amended course for the Rochester--Bodiam Roman road.
